Why Your Seoul Salon Booking Price Can Change

A Seoul salon’s booking price may be a deposit, a short-hair base price, or a conditional promotion—not the final bill. Before any service starts, confirm the exact stylist, hair-length tier, included steps, additions and remaining amount in Korean won.

The current AM:TON Hapjeong product on Creatrip and ECOJARDIN Gangnam COEX product on KoreaTravelEasy both illustrate the central problem: an online payment can be a reservation deposit, with the balance calculated onsite under that product’s own conditions. They are examples, not a universal Seoul rule.

The menus are dated 2024 illustrations. A traveler’s Reddit salon report and a 2024 Salon de Banny visit on Naver Blog help reveal questions about deposits, review promotions and length additions, but neither establishes today’s terms for another salon.

Identify what the displayed number means

• Deposit: secures the appointment; the salon collects the remaining balance.
• Starting price: applies to a specified hair length, service version or stylist level.
• Estimate: can change after an in-person hair assessment.
• Promotion: may depend on booking channel, weekday, first visit, selected designer, payment method or review.
• All-inclusive package: fixed only when it explicitly lists every included step and exception.

“Paid online” does not prove “paid in full.” Keep the booking page and ask the platform or salon which category applies.

Length, density and stylist rank can change the base

Salons do not share one definition of long hair. Their breakpoints may be chin, shoulder, collarbone, chest or below chest; dense hair can also increase product and time. Send current front, side and back photos and ask which tier applies.

Many larger salons also price by an internal stylist rank. The same service name can cost more with a named senior designer or director. Confirm the specific person, not only the rank label.

My hair is currently [length] and [thin/medium/thick]. I attached photos taken today. I booked [service] with [stylist]. Is the online payment a deposit or full price? Please confirm the estimated total in KRW, including every length, stylist and product charge.

The service label may omit important steps

For a cut, color, perm or clinic, ask whether the quote includes shampoo, haircut, blow-dry, toner, each bleach round, pre-treatment, bond care, root volume, down perm and extra product. Basic styling is not the same as event styling.

Hair condition can change the safe plan

Photos cannot fully show breakage, elasticity, old bleach, box dye, henna, straightening or overlapping chemical damage. A stylist may recommend a test strand, treatment, fewer bleach rounds, a different service or no chemical service.

Before mixing color or beginning a chemical process, ask:

• What changed from my booking?
• Is this addition optional or necessary?
• What is the new itemized total in KRW?
• What result is realistic within my maximum budget?

If the revised plan is too expensive, reduce the service before work begins. Do not rely on a verbal “there may be an extra charge”; write the approved total on your phone.

Reconcile the bill line by line

At checkout, compare the confirmed service and stylist, base price, length/density addition, each chemical or treatment step, discount, deposit already paid and balance due. If something differs, show the booking confirmation, promotion terms, written estimate and any revised total you approved. Ask the salon to explain each line, then contact the booking platform with the same records when its listing or deposit is involved.
