Large Luggage at Seoul Stations: Locker Sizes, Exits and Walking Buffers

For a suitcase above 27 inches, check a staffed T-Luggage counter first: its published XL tier begins at 27 inches, but the exact branch must be open, have capacity and accept the item. It is a backup to a large locker, not a guaranteed space. If you prefer self-service, measure the whole case first—the published large T-Locker compartment is 50 cm wide, 90 cm deep and 60 cm high, while the usable door opening and interior hardware can still decide whether an awkward bag fits.

That distinction matters at busy stations. A recent r/koreatravel discussion repeatedly circles the same problem: a 27-inch-plus bag may fit somewhere, yet the useful large compartment can already be occupied. The safest choice is the station that matches your route and gives you a staffed backup.

Measure the suitcase before choosing

Seoul's official T-Locker sizes are measured as width × depth × height:

• Small: 50 × 30 × 60 cm
• Medium: 50 × 45 × 60 cm
• Large: 50 × 90 × 60 cm

Include wheels, handles, straps and any bulging front pocket when you measure all three directions. A suitcase sold as “28-inch” is not a standard external dimension, so the label alone cannot tell you whether the door will close. If several bags might share one compartment, measure the combined arrangement rather than assuming they can be compressed. Odd-shaped or unusually large items should be shown to T-Luggage staff before payment.

Large T-Lockers cost ₩4,400 for the first four hours on weekdays or ₩6,100 on weekends, then ₩1,000 per additional hour. They can be accessed from 05:00 to midnight; retrieval is unavailable after closing. Newer units can show availability and take payment through the T-Locker app, but an app result does not guarantee that a unit will still be free, functioning or compatible with your payment method when you arrive. Check the instructions and price displayed on the exact locker before confirming.

T-Luggage's XL storage tier starts at 27 inches: ₩9,000 for four hours on weekdays or ₩13,000 on weekends, plus ₩1,000 per extra hour. Most branches below run 09:00–22:00; the operator currently lists Gangnam as 10:00–22:00. Rates and hours were checked on August 12, 2026. Capacity, acceptance, payment and the latest collection time are not guaranteed by published business hours; ask how extensions or late retrieval are charged before leaving the bag.

Five useful stations, west to east

The connector simply orders the stations from west to east. Google Maps does not calculate this Korean multi-stop walk, so use its place handoff or a local map app for live navigation. The ranges below are conservative planning allowances from the platform to the counter, checked against current station layouts. They are not on-site stopwatch measurements; crowds, construction, a missed sign or a step-free route can add time. Confirm the operator, entrance, floor, exit side, whether the counter is inside or outside a fare gate, and the working elevator route on the day. A station name alone is not a location.

Hongik University Station — best before or after AREX

The current T-Luggage operator page places the counter on B1 between exits 2 and 3, while Seoul's separate storage index describes it near exits 3 and 4. Because those two official pages do not match, use the operator page as the starting reference, then follow the blue T-Luggage signs or ask station staff on arrival. Budget about 6–10 minutes from Line 2 and 10–15 minutes from the airport-rail platforms. Seoul's accessibility index lists two elevators at Hongik; the step-free path may be longer than the nearest stairs.

Seoul Station — strongest backup for a big suitcase

Follow the B1 passage from Exit 1 toward Exit 2. A 2025 photo walkthrough shows the blue glass counter and the large “Store & Delivery” sign, with Gong Cha and Olive Young as useful nearby landmarks.

Allow roughly 5–10 minutes from the KTX concourse and 8–15 minutes from AREX. Seoul's official accessibility page lists four elevators for the Line 1 station, but that count does not mean Exit 1 is the closest step-free street exit. Follow elevator icons to B1 first, then the Exit 1–2 signs.

Myeongdong Station — the shortest simple branch approach

The counter is on B1 by the corridor serving exits 1, 9 and 10. From a Line 4 platform, five to eight minutes is a sensible allowance with a rolling case. The city accessibility index lists two elevators.

Gangnam Station — convenient, but check the line you arrive on

T-Luggage is near exits 9 and 10. Allow about 5–8 minutes from Line 2 and 8–12 minutes from the Shinbundang Line because the transfer complex is long. The official index lists four elevators at the Line 2 station; staying with elevator signage can take you away from the most direct staircase.

Jamsil Station — useful for the east side

The branch sits on B1 by exits 3 and 4. Plan 6–10 minutes from Line 2 or 10–15 minutes from Line 8. Seoul lists four elevators for the Line 2 station, and the Lotte complex can make an apparently short indoor walk feel less direct when it is busy.

What to do when every large locker is taken

Go straight to the staffed counter while it is open; do not spend 20 minutes circling the same concourse. The official locker network covers 336 locations across 273 stations, although those totals do not promise a large empty compartment at your station. Check the app before committing to a transfer, and leave enough time to retrieve the bag before the service closes.

Before paying, read the exact operator’s prohibited-items and liability rules. Keep passports, valuables, essential medicine and anything you need during the day with you. Batteries, refrigerated or perishable goods and other restricted items may be refused; never leave luggage unattended while searching for another option. Save the receipt or access code, photograph the locker or counter identifier without exposing the code, and set a collection alarm with a generous buffer for queues, lifts and a failed first attempt.

If one compartment cannot take everything, use separate available units only after checking the total price, or move to a staffed or neighborhood alternative. Keep stairs, platforms, corridors, tactile paving, doors and emergency routes clear while repacking or waiting.
