Makeup Before a Seoul Personal Color Analysis: Prep Checklist

Each Seoul personal color studio sets its own preparation rules. Many consultants want no makeup, while the current Season of You listing asks clients to wear basic foundation and avoid strong lip, blush and eye color. The instructions for the studio and package you actually booked come first.

If the studio has sent no guidance, the lowest-interference baseline is a comfortable face without visible color makeup, colored contacts or anything covering the neckline. Confirm whether you should cleanse there, whether sunscreen is acceptable, and whether a makeup-pouch review is included before changing your routine.

Send one message before the appointment

Use a short message that asks for specific decisions:

Hello, I am booked for a personal color analysis on [date]. Should I arrive without base makeup and sunscreen, or can I cleanse there? Should I remove colored contacts? Will dyed hair be covered during draping? Is a high-neck top okay? Does my package include a makeup-pouch review? May I photograph the useful drape comparisons, and does the studio record or post clients?

Send it when you book. The Korean preparation notice from Image Palette, for example, recommends cleansing at home because wiping the face immediately before draping may leave temporary redness. Season of You currently gives a different instruction—basic foundation is acceptable for its listed session. That contrast is the reason to confirm the booked studio rather than combine rules from several consultants.

Treat the FAQ graphic as a prompt; it does not define a universal standard. Save the studio's answer with your booking confirmation so you can show it if the person handling messages is different from the consultant on the day.

Makeup and skin care: keep the face stable

Base products, tone-up cream, tinted sunscreen, blush, lipstick, eye shadow, mascara and false lashes can change the color or contrast seen beside a drape. Lumu's studio preparation guide specifically flags base and lip products, mascara, glossy cushions, tone-up products and sunscreen that leaves a visible white cast.

When your studio asks for a bare face, cleanse gently at the time it specifies. Avoid scrubbing, deliberately drying the skin or applying an unusually shiny layer of moisturizer just before the session. Your normal, comfortable skin is more useful than a face reddened by hurried cleansing.

Sun protection still matters on the journey. Ask whether the studio accepts your usual sunscreen or provides cleansing time; follow that answer instead of skipping SPF without a plan. Pack only the cleanser or basic skin care the studio requests.

Colored contacts, glasses and dyed hair

Bring clear contacts or glasses, plus a lens case and solution if you may need to switch. This avoids a choice between seeing clearly and following the consultant's method. Tell the studio in advance if changing lenses is not practical; do not improvise with contact lenses at the appointment.

Dyed hair does not need to be recolored. Tell the consultant it is dyed and ask whether the hair will be covered or visually separated for the face comparison. A recent photo of your natural hair in neutral light can help when hair-color advice is part of the package. If you want a maintainable recommendation, explain how often you are willing to retouch it.

Wear an open neckline and pack for your package

A neutral cape often covers the color of your clothing, so access around the neck matters more than buying a special white shirt. Choose a scoop neck, V-neck or open round neck. Avoid a turtleneck, hoodie or tight high collar, and remove large earrings or reflective jewelry during draping if asked.

Bring only items the consultant can realistically review:

• Clear contacts or glasses, plus lens supplies if needed.
• Booking confirmation and the studio's preparation reply.
• Three to five questions you want answered.
• Your makeup pouch only if cosmetic checking is included.
• Photos of clothes, lipstick, hair colors or accessories you use often when carrying the items is inconvenient.

Confirm photo and recording consent separately

Permission to take your own reference photos is different from permission for the studio to record or publish you.
