Naver Map English Search: Find the Exact Korean Place
English mode helps you read NAVER Map, but exact-name matching varies by listing. Paste the full Korean business and branch name, then verify the address before routing.
English mode is worth keeping on in NAVER Map, but it does not make every romanized business name searchable. When an exact place or branch will affect your day, copy its full Korean listing name, paste it into NAVER Map, and confirm the address before you start directions.

The interface and the search index are different
The current NAVER Maps App Store listing describes Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese maps, plus English navigation. NAVER also says its multilingual place pages can show translated business names, addresses, categories and details, while reviews and restaurant filters receive multilingual support.
That makes English mode genuinely useful after you find a listing. It does not mean every independent café, clinic or branch has every possible English spelling attached to it. NAVER's help page for English business-name searches explains that English or phonetically similar searches depend on search terms registered for that business. Coverage can therefore differ between listings.
The fastest recovery when a place will not appear
- Copy the exact Korean name from the venue's official website or social account, a booking confirmation, or another map result. Copy the branch name too.
- Paste only that Korean text into NAVER Map. For chains, the listing often follows brand + branch, with
점meaning branch. - Before tapping Directions, match the district or road address. If several pins look plausible, compare the category, phone number and recent place photos as extra checks.
- Save the verified pin or share its NAVER Map link. Start the route from that result instead of running the same English search again later.
If the venue name is available only in romanized form, search it with the neighborhood on its official account or another map, then copy the Hangul listing. When names remain ambiguous, the Korean road address from an official source is the better fallback.
Keep English mode on—just give search Korean text
NAVER's multilingual map update separates display support from place discovery: business information can be translated, and the app can translate Korean text reviews and restaurant filters after a place is found. Its official map blog also shows that the app can follow the phone language or be changed in Settings.
The English interface helps you read transit information, addresses, details, reviews and filters. The Korean name gives the search box its most precise identifier. Both can be used at the same time.
Prepare the names that cannot be wrong
Before a travel day, save your hotel, timed reservation, medical appointment and last train connection in NAVER Map. Keep each Korean name and address in a note that works even if another app or a message thread is slow to load.
Two independent traveler threads—one about searching NAVER Map efficiently and another asking whether English search is consistent—describe uneven personal experiences and the same copy-and-paste workaround. They are useful context, not an official guarantee. The official app and listing details should decide which pin you use.
The rule to remember is short: read the app in English, search exact destinations in Korean, and verify the branch by address. That small preparation is much safer than trusting a guessed spelling at the station exit.
