Large Suitcase on KTX or Luggage Delivery?

Take one large case on KTX when you can lift and steer it, the train is direct, and both station approaches are simple. Delivery earns its fee when subway stairs, tight transfers, children or mobility needs make handling the bag the hard part.

KTX permits luggage; it does not reserve a rack

KORAIL's current passenger guidance puts responsibility on the traveler and allows up to two pieces that cannot occupy a seat or block an aisle. It does not sell a reserved luggage position. End-of-car areas and overhead shelves are shared, and trainset geometry differs. Board with time, use a floor-level area if overhead lifting is unsafe, and never place a case where it can roll or fall.

Count every transfer, not just the train

A taxi–KTX–taxi journey is different from two subway transfers plus a regional bus. Check elevator detours, connection margin, whether you need the bag before delivery, and whether the advertised service actually touches both hotels. Station-to-station forwarding can leave the hardest hotel legs untouched.

Keep valuables with you

Keep passport, medicine, cash, electronics, keys and an overnight change at your seat. Close and identify the main case and record train, car and seat. Available evidence does not support describing KTX suitcase theft as common; basic separation and fast reporting are more useful than fear. Tell staff immediately onboard, or the station office after leaving.

Delivery products solve different legs

Current Zimcarry local delivery starts per piece at ₩12,000 up to 55 cm, ₩16,000 under 70 cm and ₩20,000 at 70 cm or more. The published local route is within 30 km, requires eligible handoff points and has time windows. Its KTX/SRT express is a separate station-counter product with route, size, train, branch and day restrictions. A quick decision rule

Carry the bag when one traveler can manage one case on a direct route. Consider hotel delivery only when both endpoints are confirmed and it removes the difficult transfers. Consider station express when the counter-to-counter segment itself is useful. Compare the full per-bag total with taxis and hotel storage; a late plan cannot use a morning hotel cutoff.
