Korean Pad Sizes: Read Centimeters, Not Just Medium or Large
중형, 대형 and 오버나이트 do not convert neatly to overseas size names. Match the printed length first, then check wings, rear coverage, thickness and pull-on fit.
Korean labels such as 중형 (medium), 대형 (large) and 오버나이트 (overnight) are navigation labels within a product line—not universal conversions for Regular, Long or overseas Size 1–5. Start with the printed centimeters, then compare wings, rear shape, thickness and the kind of product.
1. Match the number before the name
If your usual pad is 28 cm, begin near 28 cm even if the Korean pack calls it large. One official product may label 33 cm overnight; that does not create a national definition. Length is portable across brands, while category names and absorbency claims are not. Rear width and shape still matter for sleep or movement.
2. Decode the shelf words
중형 and 대형 mean medium/large inside that line. 오버나이트 emphasizes longer rear sleep coverage. 수퍼롱/슈퍼롱 means super-long. 날개형 means wings. 울트라슬림/슬림/맥시 describes construction or thickness, not one cross-brand absorbency scale. 팬티라이너 is a liner, not a substitute for a menstrual pad.
3. Pull-on M/L measures the body fit
입는 오버나이트 is underwear-shaped. Its medium or large may refer to a waist/hip fit range rather than flat pad length, so read the body measurement. The Korea Consumer Agency’s 2026 comparison found product-level differences in backflow, comfort and size fit among seven disposable pull-on products; its earlier regular-pad comparison also found differences in humidity and user satisfaction. A longer or thicker item is not automatically the best fit.
4. Choose quickly in a store
Turn the pack over or scan the front corners for cm/mm. Then check 날개형, the rear-panel drawing and whether it is a pad or pull-on. Convenience stores favor small, compact selections; pharmacies, supermarkets and beauty chains may carry more, but branch stock varies. Useful questions: 날개형 중형 생리대 있어요? (medium with wings?), 오버나이트 35cm 이상 있어요? (overnight at least 35 cm?), 입는 오버나이트 대형 있어요? (pull-on large?). Try a small pack before bulk buying.
