How Many Albums Should You Buy for a K-pop Fansign?
No album count guarantees a fansign win. Check the exact event product and pool, calculate the full no-win cost, and set a firm limit before entering.

A fansign raffle does not have a secret, universally safe album count. One eligible album may add one entry when the notice says so, but no public notice tells you the final entry pool. Buying more can improve your chance in a quantity-based draw; it cannot turn a random draw into a reservation.
The useful question is therefore not “What number guarantees a win?” It is: What is the most I can spend and still be comfortable if I lose? Set that ceiling before the sales window opens, then check every cost and rule against the exact event notice.
The short answer
- There is no reliable cut line. The artist, member, seller, city, event type, timing, and total demand all change the draw.
- Only the designated listing counts. The same album bought from a normal product page may create no entry.
- Order count and album count are not always the same. Some notices count eligible units across orders; others use a different application method.
- A winner count is not an odds estimate. You still need the unknown total number of eligible entries.
- Your limit should be a no-win budget. Include shipping, customs, travel, card fees, and duplicate-album handling—not only the shelf price.
Rules can change even during an event. This guide was rechecked on August 12, 2026, but the live notice for the round you enter remains the only rulebook.
What one album actually buys
Read the event notice from top to bottom before adding anything to your cart. A purchase counts only when the seller, sales window, release and version, event category, and application details all match. “Offline fansign,” “video call,” and an ordinary album listing can sit beside one another while feeding different pools—or no raffle at all.
In the Weverse Shop notice for TREASURE's June 2026 offline fansign, only specially labeled NEW WAV products bought during the application period were eligible. Customers also had to submit the application. The notice counted eligible albums, not separate orders; a set counted by the number of albums inside it.
The YG SELECT notice for another June 2026 TREASURE event also counted total eligible album quantity across orders, but it used designated offline- and video-call products and separate winner pools. Its cancellation, privacy, identity, and participation terms belonged to that seller and that event.
These notices are historical examples, not open raffles. They show why copying a rule from a previous round is risky. For a new entry, confirm all five items:
- the exact event product label;
- the sales and application deadline in KST;
- whether entry is automatic or requires a separate form;
- the pool you are entering; and
- what happens to entries if an order is partly or fully canceled.
Why community “cut lines” mislead
An event can announce 50 winners without revealing whether the pool contains 500 or 50,000 eligible entries. That missing denominator is why no outsider can calculate your true chance. The seller may also divide places by channel, member, or event format, so even the headline winner count may not describe your pool.
Community reports vary for exactly this reason. Discussions about album quantities for Seoul fansigns and wins with fewer than five albums contain very different experiences. Read them for process tips and a sense of uncertainty, never as a price list for winning.
Even a recent result for the same artist may not transfer to the next round. Demand can shift after a comeback, a tour announcement, a popular member benefit, or a change in seller. A quoted “cut” may also describe a guessed threshold, a reseller’s sales pitch, or a non-random selection system. Unless the current official notice explains the mechanics, do not fill the gaps with certainty.
Read one official example correctly
The three images below come from official TREASURE NEW WAV event listings for June 2026. They document a past event; they are not a current application link.
Each panel answers a different question:
- the designated-product label tells you what can create an entry;
- the schedule tells you when purchase and application must be completed;
- the winner breakdown tells you which pool has how many places; and
- the per-album photocard tells you what purchase benefit is included.
None reveals the final total entry pool. In the YG SELECT example, the 50 offline places were split between online and physical-store buyers, while the 100 video-call places formed another member-based pool. Treat the exact category on your product page as part of the product itself.
Build a no-win budget
Start with money that is genuinely discretionary. Do not use rent, debt payments, emergency savings, or the amount reserved for flights and accommodation. Then calculate the cost as if you will not win:
- eligible album price multiplied by quantity;
- platform and payment fees;
- Korean domestic shipping or international shipping;
- customs duty, tax, brokerage, and failed-delivery charges;
- currency conversion and foreign-card fees;
- proxy, consolidation, storage, or forwarding costs;
- Seoul transport, accommodation, and schedule changes for an offline event; and
- the time and cost of keeping, gifting, reselling, or responsibly recycling duplicates.
If the no-win total would make the albums and guaranteed benefits feel like a bad purchase, lower the quantity or skip the round. Do not chase a loss with another order. Do not borrow to enter. Do not let a reseller’s “recommended cut” replace your own ceiling.
A strong stop rule fits in one sentence: “I will spend no more than ___ in total, including fees, and I will not add an order after that amount.” Save the final order and application confirmation so you can check what you actually submitted.
Check refunds before assuming you can reverse the order
Event goods often have special cancellation consequences. In the 2026 Weverse example, a cancellation before the announcement could invalidate entries, and event-exclusive products could not be canceled or refunded after the winner announcement. The YG SELECT example said cancellation after its entry deadline was unavailable for simple change of mind and that losing the draw did not make albums returnable.
Those are event-specific terms, not a blanket statement about every legal right or store. Read the live product page, event notice, and the seller’s return policy together before payment. Do not use “I can return them if I lose” as the basis for a budget unless the current seller explicitly confirms it in writing.
Privacy and identity are part of the price
Fansign entry can require a legal name, birth date, phone number, email, nationality, app account, and—depending on the event—an ID image. The 2026 official examples named the companies receiving data and gave different retention periods for ordinary entrants and winners. YG SELECT’s video-call category also requested a LINE ID and an ID image.
Before consenting, identify:
- every company receiving the data;
- which fields are required for your event type;
- the stated purpose and retention period for entrants and winners;
- whether withdrawal cancels the entry; and
- where the official seller accepts privacy questions.
Use only the seller’s official page or app. Never give a proxy your shop password, one-time code, account-recovery code, or an unredacted passport file merely because they claim to know a winning quantity. Official notices may prohibit proxy applications, transfers, or resale of a winning place, and a third party cannot guarantee the outcome of a draw.
Overseas entrant checklist
Offline fansign in Korea
Match the application name to the exact document accepted by the current notice. In both 2026 examples, a foreign participant’s English name had to match a valid passport or residence card, and the winner had to bring the physical ID. A photo, printout, screenshot, expired document, or mismatched name could be rejected.
Before buying, confirm the event date, arrival and identity-check time, accepted ID, passport validity, transfer restrictions, and the cost of reaching Seoul. Winning normally does not include airfare, accommodation, a visa, or schedule protection. Do not book a non-refundable trip until the organizer announces the winner and final venue details.
Video-call fansign
Check the required app, account ID, time zone, call order, call length, identity check, and number of contact attempts. The YG SELECT example used LINE, allowed two call attempts, and warned that a participant’s network problems could prevent the call. Those details are not universal.
Test the exact account on the device you will use. Allow notifications, charge the phone, stabilize the network, and prepare the accepted ID without exposing it to anyone outside the official process. A video call can still include international album shipping, customs, and redelivery costs.
Five-minute decision check
Do not pay until you can answer each question from the live official notice:
- Am I on the exact event listing, version, seller, and sales window?
- Does each eligible unit add an entry, and must I submit a separate application?
- Is my pool offline, video call, member-specific, or channel-specific?
- Does my legal name exactly match the accepted, unexpired ID?
- What data is collected, shared, and retained?
- What are the cancellation and refund consequences?
- What is my complete no-win cost?
- What fixed total will I not exceed?
If one answer is unclear, pause and ask the official seller before ordering. The right album count is not a hidden community number. It is the number—possibly zero—that stays inside your budget after every current rule, fee, privacy trade-off, and travel risk is visible.
If you do travel to Seoul, keep albums and luggage out of crowded venues by arranging storage after your route is confirmed. Find a nearby Delivery Spot luggage location.
