Busan Sea-View Cafes: Haeundae vs Yeongdo vs Gijang
Choose Haeundae for the easiest first visit, Yeongdo for a layered working-harbor panorama, or Gijang for the widest open sea—then use the seat and access trade-offs that matter.

Choose the district before the cafe: Haeundae for the easiest first visit, Yeongdo for a layered working-harbor panorama, and Gijang for the widest open-sea setting. They are not three convenient stops on one cafe crawl. Pick one according to the rest of the Busan day, then choose a weather-safe seat before chasing the perfect photo angle.
At all three, the “best” rooftop or front-window table may be the wrong choice in wind, heat, glare or haze. An upper indoor window—or even one row behind it—often preserves the view with less waiting and exposure.
Quick comparison
- Haeundae · Edge 993: easiest to combine with the beach, Mipo and a first Busan itinerary; city towers, the beach curve and sea share the frame.
- Yeongdo · Cafe 385: bus or taxi handoff is more practical than expecting a subway stop; elevated windows layer ships, cranes, bridges and Oryukdo.
- Gijang · Waveon Coffee: longest commitment from central Busan; terraces and pine-framed windows put the open sea at the center.

Haeundae: Edge 993 for the easiest first visit
Edge 993 sits at the Mipo end of Haeundae, where the water, beach curve, LCT towers and passing coastal trains can share one view. It is the simplest choice when the cafe should fit into a Haeundae day rather than become a separate excursion.
- Access snapshot: The Naver Place listing directed visitors from Jung-dong Station Exit 7—about 20 minutes on foot or roughly 5 minutes by taxi when captured August 9, 2026.
- Hours snapshot: 08:30–22:00 daily; last order 21:45. Check the same-day holiday or temporary notice.
- Price snapshot: Edge Spanner ₩7,000; blue Edge Latte ₩7,500. Menu and prices can change.

Seat strategy: Try the front rooftop edge when visibility is good and the air is calm. In summer heat or wind, take an indoor window. Bright midday glass can reflect the room; a seat one row back may make a calmer photo than the busiest front table. Arriving near opening improves the odds but never reserves a particular seat.
Yeongdo: Cafe 385 for a layered harbor view
Cafe 385 looks across a working harbor rather than a blank horizon. Ships, cranes, Busandaegyo and Oryukdo give the view depth. The building’s upper floors mean an indoor table can still clear much of the foreground.
- Official overview: Visit Busan describes four floors plus a rooftop, with Oryukdo and bridge views, and lists the address as 539 Taejong-ro.
- Access: Yeongdo has no subway station. Visit Busan’s current route uses a bus handoff from the Line 1 city side, followed by a walk; use live Naver Map or KakaoMap instead of memorizing one bus number.
- Hours: Visit Busan and the Naver Place listing list 10:00–22:00 daily, last order 21:30; rechecked August 12, 2026.
- Price snapshot: Americano ₩6,000; plum latte and sea-salt caramel latte ₩7,800 on the August 9 merchant capture. Bakery stock changes during the day.
- Crowd signal: Naver’s displayed Sunday profile peaked around 14:00 in the capture. It is a directional pattern, not a forecast for your date.

Seat strategy: Start with a high-floor window table. The rooftop widens the panorama but is more exposed to wind and weather. If the first row is occupied, the elevated room means a table farther back can still hold the harbor layers.
Gijang: Waveon Coffee for open-sea immersion
Waveon makes sense when the coast itself is the outing. Outdoor terraces and seats descend toward the rocky water, while upper indoor windows offer a weather-safe version of the pine-framed scene. The extra travel from central Busan means it works better as the anchor of a Gijang day than as a quick Haeundae add-on.
- Official access: The Waveon travel-agency guide says the cafe is about a 10-minute walk from Donghae Line Wollae Station or a short taxi ride, and lists on-site parking. Treat its promotional claims as marketing, not proof that it is the right cafe for everyone.
- Current official hours: Waveon’s official company page and the Naver Place listing list daily 10:00–24:00, last order 23:00; rechecked August 12, 2026.
- Price snapshot: Brazil Campo Alegre drip coffee ₩8,000; Full Moon cold brew and roasted whole-wheat latte ₩7,500 on the August 9 merchant capture.

Seat strategy: In mild, calm weather, look for a sea-facing outdoor seat with a clear gap between the pines. In heat, cold or strong wind, use an upper window. The front outdoor row feels closest to the water but can be partly blocked by trees or other guests.
The seat rule that saves the visit
Choose the weather-safe zone first, then optimize the angle:
- Rooftop: widest view, most wind, sun and competition.
- Front window: reliable protection, but midday reflections can flatten photos.
- One row back: often less foot traffic and glare, especially in tall glass rooms.
- Outdoor terrace: strongest sense of the sea, but most dependent on temperature and rain.
For a view-first visit, arrive near opening, scan the available floors before settling and keep one fallback zone in mind. Follow the cafe’s current ordering and seating rules. Do not leave bags unattended to hold a table.
Which district should you choose?
Choose Haeundae on a first Busan trip or when the cafe must fit around the beach. Choose Yeongdo when ships, bridges and an urban harbor tell a more interesting story than an empty horizon. Choose Gijang when you will trade more travel time for the broadest sense of sitting beside open water.
Traveler comments in Reddit’s Korea travel community reinforce one practical point: a famous cafe can consume substantial cross-city time. Use those reports only as experience signals; use current official and merchant pages for access, hours and prices.
